Excel not recognising numbers (doesnt add up) (repeat post)
I have a problem with excel with the data extracted.
Its a row of numbers with some with a negative symbol but it doesnt add up
The solution was to replace in excel the numbers using the numpad numbers instead. Seems to be a ascii issue. Is there a way to alter the tables or tell visual web ripper what format it is exactly crawling?
I'm using web crawling mode. (same bug with web browser). If you click a cell in excel formulas then work. On refresh of this data none of the formulas work again. Its as if the cell is counted as a text format from the sql source. Changing the format in excel changes nothing. So it might be a sql table format issue.
Every time I refresh excel it just thinks its a text field (ive tried number formats in excel etc) nothing works except replacing the numbers using the numpad)
Any suggestions? its a major glitch.

Im not sure how to insert a carraige return into that data. It might be that. Mainly as clicking on a excel cell adds a return and then the data is fine. all forumulas add up. Until of course its refreshed. So its the data thats the issue. Any ideas to insert a return? or ascii code 0013?

Hi I've changed the database column to money via sql management. The real question is how do you alter the table format from visual web spider? problem solved for good! Maybe you should add it to the help section about issues like this if using excel. There are many out there wondering why excel wont add up web data!

This option is present only in Content Grabber. We are now focusing on developing this scraper more extensively because it is using Chromium, an open-source web browser from which Google Chrome draws its source code. It has a lot of features including the data type you need.

One possibility is the regex or content transformation altering things. Other bots where its straight forward (no alteration or regex) works fine with formulas in excel.

Please try to use C# as content transformation. If yes, I will send this to software development team.

I would suggest options for the datatype for each extract for each type of database format. It would be blissful then. I might even upgrade to the newer one!
