Pull current grocery prices on certain items

Submitted: 2/21/2014

Hello.  I buy the same items each week from the grocery store.  I have a list of items that I would like to know how much they are currently priced at ShopRite.  I manually will go to the site, find the item through a search, and see the price.  Is there a way that I can have the items price populate on a list for me each week after it is updated?  I have roughly 40 items I would like to do this with. One item that I can mention is Perdue Nuggets, from the Shoprite website.  If I try to copy a link to that item it is a generic link and when clicked on just takes you to the main shopping screen.

Thank you,

Christine

Please attach a screenshot or give me a sample product url where has the item description and which content is indicating that product is on sale? I'm thinking that should be easiler, thought you can create the two elements in the project.

In the attached screen shot you can see how a item is marked on sale.  Also items that are on sale are in a red font.  I would like to be able to pull the regular price, sale price if any.  Is this possible?

Getting the regular price, with the sale price can give a way to list some savings, etc for what I am trying to do.

Thank you in advance.

I would have to export all of the  products first, and then can take that products URL and say compile a list of 500 URLS, and I can just have those URLs update each week when I run the project?
=========================================
In case you need to feed in 500 URLS to another project, propose that you write custom export script to do update prices only, that shouldn't be difficult to learn.

Basically, the one demo project gave you full fields as you expect, what you need to do is creating another project to do updates for prices, or write custom export script in current demo project to do updates . not sure what you mean by 'second report ..' , you mean that you hope to filter out the exported data?

We don't provide live training, you can further view online demo videos from our website or reading the online manual where has teach you how to use VWR.

if you prefer to pay for the two projects(or full solution) without purchase VWR, you can ask a quote for them, I will move this inquiry to our another staff to process.

Thanks SImon for the input.  I have a coupon database of roughly 500 coupons.  An example would be I want to know what the cost of the Perdue Nuggets are for the current week on the Shoprite website.  I would go to this link: http://shop.shoprite.com/Shop.aspx?strid=3572346 in the search type Perdue Nuggets.  It would then come back with several different types of nuggets, last week they were priced at $4.79, but this week they are priced at $2.57.  I am guessing that the page stays the same and just the prices are just updated.  I just noticed that there is no way to copy the page link to identify it.  DOes that make sense?  HOw would or could I use Web Ripper?

I dont want to manually update any links after the original linking of coupon to the data (item with price).  I would like for it to update week after week with the items current pricing until the coupon expires.  I will manually update any linking of data with the coupons, but again just would like to pull the current pricing off of roughly 500 items each week.  If possible and I can use Web Ripper, navigate to the page of the item, use Web Ripper to track the page price, and then each week have it pull the current price of the item.

See attached pic...The two items circled in green I would want to track, I would set up the "connection" and then hope that each week it would automatically refresh with the pricing information.

DOes this help?

Please check the attached new project.

I've revised the xpath for 'New template' page area template, and added the 3 new elements under the template. (on_sale, reg_price, sale_price)

One more question.  The items pulled back from the demo project, are those all the columns regarding the items description? I would like to also know if the item is on sale.  There is a indicator listed if it is on sale on the website page, I was wondering if this information is also available to be pulled via the scraper job?

Please check the attached demo project. you need to put the project in default projects folder then run it.

The website does complex javascript+ajax page navigation then reaching the final each of product detail pages.

For your case, we've only able to provide the one demo project for you , you should first extract the prices for all products at very first time, then further updating the price by the each product link (Product_URL). i.e, the product links will be feeding in another project as start urls ,then you updating the prices for them.

Wow that was amazing!  Yes it pulled out all the pricing information..

Just amazing.  Ok so to confirm, I would have to export all of the  products first, and then can take that products URL and say compile a list of 500 URLS, and I can just have those URLs update each week when I run the project?

I would probably pay for the two projects to be completed, first project being a option to run a report to pull all information on all products with pricing.  The second report being a list that would be the items that I am looking for.

Now because my 500 or so coupons will be changing (expired and new), is there a way for me to be provided training on how to run update my own lists? Fee based training I am assuming.

Thank you again for all of your help during this trial period!

Not sure how to reach those items as you want to get prices, can you please give me specific guidance?
then you can schedule project weekly , but you 're only able to replace existed outputed data or avoiding duplicates, if you want to do updates for existed items, thought you should write custom export script to do that, or you still can manually update items.
